Under general direction, this position is responsible for providing program and personnel oversight to maintain Family Support Center facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy place to gather; managing the coordination and scheduling of clean and sober events such as group meetings, family gatherings and other gatherings to promote continued recovery; providing guidance as to available resources in support of the recovery process.

1. Oversees and manages Family Support Center (FSC) personnel, buildings and property. Provides daily on-site supervision of staff and center activities.

2. Provides administrative duties and general office support tasks, including standard operating procedures and duties.

                                  3. Provides oversight of staff activities which include:

• Coordinating and scheduling direct requests for building use; overseeing events to verify no alcohol or drugs or drug paraphernalia are present
• Maintaining a consistent schedule of events, activities and coordinating services and giving sufficient notice to participants, other programs and community.
• Coordinating program-sponsored events; providing information to the community on activities via fliers and other communications media; encouraging and supporting cultural activities and events
• Documenting participant contact, as needed, including participant-related activities and follow-up contact
• Leading individual and group discussions with a focus on life skills and independent living
• Informing participants of available services and assisting participants to obtain appropriate service providers or community resources; assisting participants by filling out forms and applications and advocating or intervening on their behalf, if requested.
• Maintaining meal coordination and preparation, ensuring program coordinators have proper food handling training and permit(s).
• Ensure that there is an educational component related to sobriety, healthy living, healthy choices, and other topics that encourage clean and sober living; available to staff and participants

4. Provides conflict resolution, mediation and crisis intervention assistance and staff training as needed.

5. Monitors and ensures participants and staff abide by program rules, guidelines, policies and procedures and takes appropriate action when necessary.

6. Provides and facilitates supportive conversations – listens to concerns and offers suggested solutions and/or resources, when appropriate.

7. Consistently maintains confidentiality and autonomy in regards to all participant information during one on one meetings, and group meeting settings.

8. Travels to and from work-related events as required; attends scheduled meetings, trainings and events.

9. Adheres to health and safety policies and procedures; ensures safety of participants, staff and facility through random and routine inspection of building, equipment, and environment surrounding the building, as well as while at events outside of the property.

10. When appropriate, responds to emergencies calmly and professionally; participates in filing incident report and forwards them to appropriate recipients in a timely manner. Ensures that there is an emergency evacuation plan in place and updated as needed. Provides training to staff on emergencies and evacuation plan.

11. Proactively communicates with Executive Director of Operations, on operations, progress, challenges, overall functioning of the program and staff of the program, and anything regarding any unusual circumstances concerning staff or issues with the program.

12. Participates in providing information to Tribal programs and the community about FSC activities and program opportunities; organizes and participates in community events.

13. Collaborates with other programs and departments to provide meaningful, effective, and innovative experiences for staff and participants, while building trust and fostering positive, productive and professional relationships.

13. Represents the FSC in a positive and professional manner when interacting with participants and the community.

14. Ensures actions and decisions are in the Tribe’s best interests, including, but not limited to, ensuring they are consistent with the Tribe’s commitment to the well-being of its members and surrounding community.

15. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

Required: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Health, or a closely related field; OR six (6) years of relevant professional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in family support services, recovery programs, behavioral health, or community-based services, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory or lead capacity.
• Demonstrated commitment to a substance-free lifestyle for a minimum of two (2) years.
• Possession of a valid Washington State driver’s license at the time of appointment.
• Current Food Handler’s Card.
• Current CPR certification, or the ability to obtain certification prior to the completion of the probationary period.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment urinalysis screening and criminal background check.

Preferred:

• Two (2) years of related experience in the Muckleshoot community.
• Certified Prevention Specialist

• Chemical dependency, mental health and social service resources including 12-step and other recovery programs.
