The Transportation Manager position, under the direction of the Transportation Division Director will be responsible for ongoing implementation of several federally funded grants. The incumbent will also be responsible for overseeing the Fleet Department and assisting with all BIA and Federal Transportation Planning elements. The Incumbent’s primary responsibility to the Tribe’s Transportation Program is adherence to the administration and compliance regulations for the 5311(c) Tribal set-aside funding from the Federal Transit Administration and Washington State Department of Transportation funding, as well as all other future transit funding source compliance regulations. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for all Fleet Funding allocations and Transportation Planning funding set asides.

Establish and maintain policies and compliance with technical, financial, and administrative requirements of the FTA and WSDOT funding sources.
Knowledge of: transportation industry, Safe driving practices and techniques. Positive methods to maintain control of student behavior. Basic first aid. Safety and maintenance requirements of bus/van and other transportation equipment. Provisions of the Washington Motor Vehicle Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of general public. A commitment to continues improvement of transit system. Skilled in: Driving a bus/van and other transportation equipment safely and efficiently. Maintaining control of passenger behavior on a bus or other vehicle. Operating equipment such as power lifts, when required. Record keeping. Oral and written communications.

Must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Must have ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
