JOB SUMMARY

Starting around $42 per hour The Data Systems & Reporting Specialist ensures the agency collects, maintains, and uses data effectively to support informed decision making. The position collaborates with managers, frontline staff, and system engineers to optimize data systems, improve data quality, and deliver clear, meaningful reports that help the organization track performance, identify trends, and achieve its goals.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Monitors and evaluates available incoming data from the Tribe’s regulated gaming facilities, TGA databases and other local resources.
  2. Work with managers, supervisors, and frontline staff to understand their data needs, challenges, and priorities.
  3. Train employees in effective use of existing data systems and tools.
  4. Serve as a liaison between end users and system engineers to communicate needs, issues, and enhancement requests.
  5. Review records within TGA’s databases to facilitate accurate reporting and ensure data integrity.
  6. Maintain a consistent and current understanding of TGA policy, procedure, and the TGA Regulatory Library to accurately analyze and evaluate information.
  7. Maintain a consistent and current understanding of TGA databases and other applicable systems where data is collected.
  8. Acts as the Agency’s central resource for data collection, processes, and requests.
  9. Create and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports that support agency operations and strategic planning.
  10. Develop dashboards and visualizations that present data in clear, accessible ways.
  11. Translate data into actionable insights that support department and organizational improvement.
  12. Keep current on data collection trends and tools and any changes to software utilized by the Agency.
  13. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the wellbeing of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Two-year degree from an accredited college or vocational school, and (5) years Muckleshoot Tribal Gaming Agency (MTGA) experience is required. A 4-year degree can substitute for 2 years of MTGA experience.

 

Special Requirements: Incumbents must be able to pass a background investigation; meet the criteria for a gaming license and pass a pre-employment drug test.

  • Basic reporting methodologies, including data validation, aggregation, and visualization techniques.
  • Workflow design and process improvement methods, including root‑cause analysis.
  • Basic database concepts such as fields, tables, queries, and relationships.
  • Principles of change management and user adoption when implementing new tools or processes.
  • Best practices for system configuration, user permissions, and data standards.

 

Ability to: 

  • Read and learn applicable laws, rules and regulations, principles and procedures.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply data effectively.
  • Build trust and maintain positive working relationships with staff across all levels of the organization.
  • Learn new software systems quickly and remain adaptable as technology evolves.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and instructions both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data in accordance with agency policies.
  • Work effectively with system engineers and TGA staff to improve system functionality.
  • Understand the data needs of managers, frontline employees, and program leads, and translate those needs into system or reporting requirements.
  • Create meaningful, easy‑to‑understand dashboards, visualizations, and written summaries from complex data.
  • Identify problems in data workflows and recommend practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Learn the basic operation of all tribal gaming agency departments and of the gaming establishments.
  • Handle multiple projects and prioritize their completion.
  • Operate a personal computer and learn applicable software and office equipment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies / customers

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and occasionally use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Licenses or Certifications Required

A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
