JOB SUMMARY

The Loan Processor/Closer Oversees the  loan application process and communicating with clients, regardless of their loan status. The successful candidate will approve credit analysis and validating and verifying all loan application information and for coordination of the  loan closing process. This person will present loans to the Loan Review Committee for review and make recommendations based on credit information.   

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervise or Manage outreach activities to familiarize Tribal Members and the community about Tribal Loan programs and services.
  2. Oversee Credit Counselor and loan specialist position and analyze all loan applicants for Mortgage, vehicle and personal loans.
  3. Interview applicants to assess qualification for loan programs.
  4. Analyze credit, income, asset, and spending habits within Loan Package for credit-worthiness.
  5. Review complete file and draw documents and update loan software before loan closing.
  6. Oversee the Input/update of data and monitor progress of all loan files on loan processing software.
  7. Analyze all documentation submitted for file completeness and accuracy.
  8. Review conditions with client and let them know of any additional information that needs to be sent right away.
  9. Review the terms and the structure of the loan with the client.
  10. Review and approve all loan documents such as Promissory Notes, Deeds of Trust, and Closing disclosures.
  11. Order third party reports including credit reports, escrow instructions, preliminary title reports, and appraisal and wiring instructions.
  12. Coordinate loan closings with lenders, customers, escrows, and title companies.
  13. Maintaining communication with clients, vendors, real estate brokers, escrow agents, and title companies.
  14. Stay current with lending regulations.
  15. Prepare and submit monthly reports to Loan Manager.
  16. Draw funds for down payment assistant.
  17. Prepare and submit policy changes for Board and Management review.
  18. Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, or business.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible loan or banking related experience, that includes supervision.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in real estate, mortgage and consumer lending industry with a thorough understanding of the regulations applicable to consumer and mortgage lending may be submitted for education requirement.

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

Skills:

  • Mortgage processing, banking, consumer lending, real estate agent, closing agent or finance and detail oriented.
  • Must have experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

 

Ability:

  • Ability to learn new company and program specific lending software programs, as well as working proficiency utilizing MS Office programs and e-mail.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize large workloads.

 

Knowledge:

  • Researching client problems, conflict resolutions and finding solutions.
  • Private mortgage lending practices, programs and institutions, including inspections, appraisals, required and acceptable documentation, underwriting standards, types of lenders and types of loans available and informal negotiations and options that might assist marginal borrowers or resolve payment problems.
  • Knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddi Mac and similar lending regulations.
  • Detail oriented with aptitude for math.
  • Knowledge of real estate industry.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb stairs; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
