JOB SUMMARY

The Sports Facility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the baseball/softball training facility, ensuring a safe, clean customer-focused environment. This role leads facility attendants, coordinates field and equipment usage, provides customer service support, and ensures that programs, rentals, and activities run efficiently.  The Supervisor serves as primary point of contact for coaches, athletes, parents, vendors, and visitors.   

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee daily facility operations including opening/closing procedures, cleanliness, and equipment readiness.
  2. Provide on-site supervision to Facility Attendants, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
  3. Ensure batting cages, pitching tunnels, turf fields, and training areas are set up and functioning properly.
  4. Greet and assist visitors, participants, coaches, and rental groups; respond to questions, concerns, or scheduling inquires.
  5. Monitor facility safety, enforce rules, and ensure proper use of equipment and training areas.
  6. Assist with scheduling facility rentals, programs, cases, camps, and tournaments.
  7. Conduct routine facility inspections and coordinate maintenance needs or repairs with management.
  8. Maintain and track equipment inventory (helmets, pitching machines, balls, screens, training aids, etc.)
  9. Train staff on customer service expectations, safety protocols, and baseball/softball equipment usage.
  10. Prepare daily reports regarding attendance, incidents, supply needs, and operational updates.
  11. Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration, Business Administration, Management, Physical Education or related field from an accredited college or university and 3-5 years of related recreation and/or supervisory experience is required. (A combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement). Experience in creating specific training plans to baseball/softball positions from beginner to advance (specific player development) is required.

 

Preferred:

Certification in sports conditioning, fitness, or related field.

 

Work Environment:

This position requires working evenings, weekends and special event hours. Physical Activity required including set up and movement of equipment.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

Knowledge of:

  • Baseball/softball/fast-pitch rules, equipment, drills, and safety practices.
  • Facility or recreation center operations and scheduling processes.
  • Basic first aid practices and emergency procedures.
  • Knowledge of athlete development principles, training methodologies, and program operations to support the delivery of high-quality sports performance program.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact with diverse participants (youth to adult).
  • Ability to supervise staff, delegate tasks, and provide clear instructions.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, active recreational environment.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (typically up to 40 lbs) and stand/walk for extended periods.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class. 

 

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, balance, bend at the waist, crouch, kneel, twist, use foot controls, and operate a motor vehicle. The employee must frequently lift carry and/or push/pull up to twenty pounds (40 lbs.). The employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to grasp, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.  Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally may sit to perform administrative tasks.
