Under general supervision is, responsible for teaching and instructing pupils in beqelSuAucid and Muckleshoot culture, and monitors student progress in order to meet the individual needs of students. This position involves gaining experience and training as required in order to attain a Washington State First People’s Language Teaching Certificate in Coast Salish Language at a time set by the Tribe.

Skilled in: Communicating effectively both orally and in writing; human relations; problem solving; designing and implementing lesson plans for students having a wide range of ages, abilities and achievement; interacting in a positive and confident manner; organizing and multi-tasking; providing instruction and demonstrating techniques; managing student behavior; use of standard office equipment, personal computer, and applicable software programs.
Knowledge of: beqelSuAucid and Muckleshoot culture; child development and behavior management; age appropriate activities; health, safety, injury prevention; and sanitary practices; conflict resolution techniques.
Ability to: Be flexible and adapt to meet the needs of the children and program; maintain confidential information; work effectively and efficiently; work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff; work and communicate well with students and their parents; speak understand and read the beqelSuAucid.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
