Under the guidance of the assigned, assists the teacher and students with assigned cultural activities and implementation of cultural curriculum.
Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent and one (1) year of experience performing Tribal cultural activities and application of Muckleshoot processes, that includes at least one (1) year experience working with school age children.
One year of Para-Educator’s classes or Washington State Early Childhood Certificate of Proficiency, or 45 credits of general college level courses.
Skilled in: Using necessary equipment, computers, machinery, tools or software, including safe handling of scissors, needles, awls, chisels, saws, sewing machines and knives; working with students in a positive and confident manner; demonstrating techniques; reading, writing and oral communications.
Knowledge of: Cultural plants used in manufacture of native utilitarian items, Muckleshoot collection processes and practices, history, stories, songs, and dances used by cultural groups, design and constructions of cultural items, preparation of raw materials; Muckleshoot history, culture, and arts.
Ability to: Follow verbal and written instructions; work with students in a positive and confident manner; observe safe work practices; establish and maintain cooperative work relationships; arrive to work in a timely manner; attend required training; maintain confidentiality; assist in preparation and implementation of relevant cultural activities and curriculum; be flexible and adapt to change in work environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have manual and finger dexterity for operation of personal computer and routine paperwork; sit, talk, see, or hear; remain still in designing and implementing cultural activities. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, balance, bend at the waist, crouch, kneel, twist, use foot controls, and operate a motor vehicle; lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
