JOB SUMMARY

The Security Officer III Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the security team, ensuring compliance with tribal policies, and providing a safe environment for Tribal members, employees, and visitors. This role requires managing daily operations, including scheduling, supervising security staff, and enforcing procedures to safeguard Tribal assets. The Security Officer III Supervisor will handle sensitive incidents, draft standard operating procedures (SOPs), and maintain security records. Additionally, this role involves providing training and guidance to the team to ensure a high level of professionalism and safety. The Security Officer III Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of security functions across all tribal locations and events. Collaboration with other departments and effective communication with the Tribal community are essential.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervise and manage daily security operations, ensuring policies are followed.
  2. Draft and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain security documentation.
  3. Coordinate and adjust staff schedules to ensure 24/7 security coverage.
  4. Lead security personnel in emergency response situations, ensuring team readiness.
  5. Conduct performance reviews and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary.
  6. Monitor security operations and report suspicious activities to law enforcement.
  7. Provide training and mentorship to security staff to enhance skillsets.
  8. Enforce tribal security policies and ensure compliance with local laws.
  9. Liaise with Tribal community members to ensure safety at events and public spaces.
  10. Investigate incidents, document findings, and ensure proper follow-up actions.
  11. Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business or relevant field.
  • Four (4) years of supervisory experience in security, law enforcement, or military may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a security-related role.
  • Four (4) years of experience in law enforcement or security operations.

  • Knowledge of conflict de-escalation techniques.
  • Understanding of Tribal safety policies and regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Security Officer III Supervisor must frequently stand, walk, and move throughout tribal properties. The role requires the use of hands and arms for operating equipment, such as radios and surveillance monitors, and may involve lifting objects up to 50 pounds. The position demands the ability to occasionally engage in physical interventions, such as suspect apprehensions or emergency evacuations. The employee must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions and occasionally be exposed to varying temperatures, humidity, or airborne particles. Strong visual acuity is needed to monitor surroundings, including close vision, distance vision, and peripheral awareness. Prolonged standing or sitting may be required, with moderate noise levels in the work environment.
