JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Grants Development Officer, the Grants Development Trainee will learn to perform increasingly complex grants development duties. The Trainee must also provide high quality customer service to both internal and external groups.

This is an entry-level Grants Development Trainee position located in the Finance Department where the Trainee will be employed so long as the trainee is pursing and progressing in education and training requirements in conjunction with the Career Development Program. This position will lead to a career progression into a permanent full-time Grants Development Specialist position at a time to be determined based on the assessment of the CFO and the Grants Development Officer. In this position, the Grants Development Trainee will receive mentorship and training from Grants Development Officer & Senior Grants Writer to assist in the development of skills necessary to become a Grants Development Specialist.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Engage in training in order to develop skills to become a Grants Development Specialist in the Grants Department.
  2. Comply with training requirements as established by the Career Development Program.
  3. Assist in providing administrative support to the department including copying, filing, scanning and organizing documents.
  4. Create and maintain spreadsheets and databases of records and files.
  5. Develop skills in using Microsoft Office software applications, especially Excel and Word.
  6. Develop skills necessary to perform Grants Development Specialist duties including:
    • Researching for Grants.
    • Researching open NOFA’s and RFP’s.
    • Working with and scheduling meetings with departments.
    • Researching and collecting data.
  7. Develop skills necessary to perform Grants Development Specialist duties including:
    • Receiving, organizing grant documents.
    • Entering information into Amplifund.
    • Entering, maintaining grant records.
  8. Assist with other Grant tasks as assigned.
  9. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the wellbeing of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

  • Must be an enrolled Muckleshoot Tribal member.
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

Knowledge of:

  • General office principles and practices
  • Software applications relative to the position assignment
  • Proper English grammar, usage and spelling
  • Word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Basic accounting and mathematics

At the completion of Career Development Program, the Grants Development Trainee must be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Continuously uses vision. Frequently sits for long periods of time. Frequently talks and listens. Manual dexterity for computer work and routine paperwork. Occasionally walks and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs.
