JOB SUMMARY

The Regulatory Compliance Officer will review and evaluate the Muckleshoot Tribal Gaming Agency

(MTGA) and the Gaming Operations compliance programs, system of internal controls, and policies and procedures for consistency with all applicable regulatory documents. They are also responsible for developing and reviewing MTGA regulatory and compliance documents as well as keeping updated on regulatory and compliance changes. The Regulatory Compliance Officer will work under the direction of the Director of Operations - TGA and coordinate closely with other TGA and Gaming Operations departments.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works collaboratively with MTGA management to develop comprehensive policy, procedure and internal controls documentation that meets MTGA standards and regulatory guidelines.
  2. Reviews and proposes edits to policies, standard operating procedures, systems of internal controls, and any other documentation that is submitted to TGA management and/or Muckleshoot Gaming Commission (MGC) for approval.
  3. Evaluates existing policies, internal controls and related documentation and recommends appropriate changes.
  4. Responsible for ensuring Gaming Operations submission(s) to MTGA meets all the applicable regulatory requirements prior to MTGA management/MGC's review.
  5. Responsible for researching and staying up-to-date on all applicable compliance requirements and regulatory changes.
  6. Responsible for communicating MTGA and Gaming Operations compliance updates to designated departments.
  7. Maintains the internal and external regulatory compliance documents in the MTGA compliance recordkeeping system and audits them for consistency.
  8. Develops and conducts regulatory training programs with feedback from TGA Executive Management.
  9. Trains internal departmental management on effectively writing policies and procedures and systems of internal controls.
  10. Acts as liaison between TGA and Gaming Operations on regulatory compliance programs and documents.
  11. Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Technical Writing, English, Business Administration or a closely related field AND, four (4) years of relevant work experience in a regulatory compliance environment with 2 of those years in process/procedure creation and review.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience in a regulatory compliance environment with six (6) years of process/policy creation and review may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

Preferred:

  • Relevant certification (i.e., CIA, CFE, CPA etc.)
  • Previous Gaming Experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job/class. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Employees will be exposed to a smoking environment in the gaming areas during observations. Performance of certain observations will require modification of employee's normal work schedule. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.

Licenses or Certifications Required

A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
