JOB SUMMARY

Grounds and Landscaping Manager at the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe’s Organizational Support department oversees Grounds and Landscaping staff. This position manages approximately nine staff members and coordinates additional landscaping contracts and contractors. The role requires ensuring the upkeep and aesthetics of the tribal grounds. The manager develops and implements Grounds and Landscaping schedules and ensures compliance with safety regulations. They will also handle resource allocation and inventory management. This position aims to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the community.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervise and manage a team of Grounds and Landscaping Ensure that team members are adequately trained and perform their duties effectively.
  2. Handle landscaping contracts and coordinate with contractors to ensure quality service. Monitor contractor performance and address any issues promptly.
  3. Develop and implement regular Grounds and Landscaping schedules and routes for the grounds. Ensure that Grounds and Landscaping tasks are completed on time and meet quality standards.
  4. Ensure all Grounds and Landscaping activities comply with safety standards and regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and address any potential hazards.
  5. Allocate resources efficiently to maintain grounds and facilities. Monitor resource usage and adjust allocations as needed.
  6. Manage inventory of landscaping supplies and equipment. Ensure that necessary supplies are available and equipment is in good working order.
  7. Provide training and development opportunities for Grounds and Landscaping Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  8. Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff and contractors. Provide feedback and take corrective actions as necessary to maintain high performance.
  9. Interact with community members to address Grounds and Landscaping Ensure that their feedback is considered in Grounds and Landscaping planning and execution.
  10. Coordinate emergency response for Grounds and Landscaping -related issues. Develop and implement emergency procedures to ensure quick and effective resolution.
  11. Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Required:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
  • Six (6) years of landscaping experience.
  • Four (4) years managerial or supervisory experience.
  • Previous employment with Muckleshoot Indian Tribe may substitute for experience.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Muckleshoot Tribal Government, policies and procedures, budgeting, and hiring.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks related to Grounds and Landscaping, including lifting heavy objects, operating Grounds and Landscaping equipment, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. The Grounds and Landscaping Manager must be able to walk, stand, and move for extended periods while supervising staff and inspecting grounds. The role may also require climbing, bending, and stooping to access Grounds and Landscaping areas. Good manual dexterity and coordination are essential for handling tools and equipment. The manager must be able to respond to emergency Grounds and Landscaping situations promptly and effectively. Occasionally lifts up to 75 lbs.
