JOB SUMMARY

This position has daily oversight of the MindCare Clinic operations. Supervision of mental health staff, under the direction of the Behavioral Health Manager.  This position will be responsible for collaborating with manager to include updating policy and procedures, research in technologies, clinic layout and design. The MindCare Clinic Supervisor will ensure quality and consistency of patient care deliverables and medical protocols. 

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervises all MindCare Clinic staff to ensure that the clinic is appropriately staffed for patient activity with qualified personnel.
  2. Trains, monitors and evaluates daily performance of staff. Provides appropriate feedback and documentation.
  3. Follows appropriate disciplinary procedures for staff, completes performance evaluations, and required documentation.
  4. Organizes and facilitates the daily operations of the MindCare Clinic and provides feedback to Behavioral Health Manager as requested.
  5. Reports suspected abuse to appropriate agency, such as Child Protective Services, Indian Child Welfare, and Law Enforcement.
  6. Master highly technical skills in order to operate specialized equipment to improve brain health.
  7. Utilize strong Behavioral Health therapy skills to make assessments and provide support to MindCare clients.
  8. Oversees and demonstrates good stewardship of departmental resources in alignment with departmental budgets.
  9. Monitors departmental quality assurance protocols, oversees data collection and provides regular summaries as requested.
  10. Ensures consistency of service by communicating with the front desk personnel.
  11. Oversees Medical Supply and equipment inventory and maintenance.
  12. Participates in the planning and execution of community events as requested.
  13. Coordinates staffing, special assignments, projects and provider coverage with daily oversight. Ensures compliance and equipment controls, routine monitoring, documentation and staff adherence to policy/procedures.
  14. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related behavioral science discipline from and an accredited college or university.
  • Active Washington State License reflecting the above
  • Two (2) years of experience supervising and managing behavioral health professionals
  • Five (5) years of experience in multidisciplinary case management with medical patients and the ability to have successful collaboration with medical professionals (MD’s and PA’s and BHP clinical staff)
  • One (1) year of experience in utilizing transcranial electrical stimulation with clients.
  • Training in Neurofeedback and the willingness and interest to gain further / advanced expertise in its clinical application.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

Knowledge of:

  • Transcranial electrical stimulation and neurofeedback technologies to integrate these services with mental health treatment and mindfulness based interventions.
  • Code of ethics, Confidentiality and privacy principles.
  • HIPAA laws/regulations with regard to protected health information (PHI).
  • Applicable laws and regulations governing mental health treatment in Washington State.
  • Washington State and County governing systems and monitoring relevant contract compliance.
  • Supervision and management models.
  • Native American culture and how culture pertains to treatment.

 

Skilled in:

  • Providing leadership through coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback to direct reports.
  • Developing and writing policies and procedures for social service and/or medical facilities.
  • Communicating in both oral and written forms.
  • Mediation and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Evaluating clinical documentation including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, screening tools, and all other required paperwork within the mental health field.
  • Utilizing computers for developing documents, recording data, researching, and communicating with staff.

 

Ability to:

  • Give oral presentations effectively and facilitate various meetings.
  • Provide clinical consultations for staff.
  • Evaluate staff and provide training of policy and procedures as deemed necessary.
  • Compose articles and written reports of varying content in a manner that is articulate, complete and useful to the target audience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, see and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.  The employee is rarely exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.      

Licenses or Certifications Required

A valid CPR certification is required at time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
