JOB SUMMARY

This position is primarily responsible for coverage in the Wellness Center Café, Wellness Center Childcare and Pool. This position will also provide customer service, information and assistance to customers of the Health and Wellness Center.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Knowledgeable about all Health and Wellness Center Departments (Managers and Front line staff) and their functions and responsibility.
  2. Prepares food and beverages according to proper policy and procedure.
  3. Monitors inventory of supplies and informs supervisor when ordering/restock is needed.
  4. Consistently maintains cash drawer and reports discrepancies in a timely manner, according to policy/procedure.
  5. Completes all duties on daily cleaning schedules and opening/closing procedures.
  6. Gives tours to groups or individuals.
  7. Serves as a resource for the members with questions about the Health and Wellness Center programs, policies, and services.
  8. Answers incoming calls, forwards calls professionally and efficiently; takes accurate messages as needed.
  9. Promotes Health and Wellness Center events and programs.
  10. Keeps working area and common areas clean, organized and free of clutter.
  11. Assists administration with Health and Wellness Center duties such as mailings, telephone campaigns, etc.
  12. Monitors and interacts with children in the drop-in Childcare area with a positive, enthusiastic and caring attitude.
  13. Interacts appropriately and according to state and local guidelines when disciplining, monitoring or assisting children.
  14. Encourages healthy, positive interaction among children in drop-in Childcare area.
  15. Ensures all toys, equipment and areas meet health, safety and cleanliness guidelines.
  16. Completes checklists for opening/ closing and cleaning duties.
  17. Maintains inventory of equipment, supplies, etc. and informs supervisor when re-ordering of such items is needed.
  18. Enforces usage policies consistently and in a fair manner with all customers.
  19. Follows proper procedure for lifeguarding and other duties with little supervision.
  20. Continually practices lifeguarding and swimming skills.
  21. Performs daily chemical tests per policy, troubleshoots chemical problems and adds chemicals when needed.
  22. Ensures pool and Wellness Center policies are being followed and enforces these when needed.
  23. Completes cleaning assignments, follows written procedures for clean-up of any bodily fluid discharge.
  24. Communicates promptly and effectively with Supervisor regarding any incidents or accidents.
  25. Responsible for assisting in training new employees and cross-training current employees.
  26. Handles and resolves member issues or concerns relating to aquatic programs.
  27. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Required:

High School Diploma or GED. Food Handler’s permit (current or within 30 days of selection). Safe food handling practices experience and cashier experience.   CPR / First Aid / Lifeguard Certification / Water Safety Instructor certified. (current or within first 30 days of hire) and one year of childcare experience for children 6-weeks to 12 years of age.

  • Proficient emergency / rescue skills, customer service skills, effective communication skills, conflict management, dependability and reliability, cultural competency / sensitivity, organization skills, knowledge of HIPPA laws and regulations, basic computer skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Will frequently stand, walk, balance, bend, crouch, reach, twist, pull/push, and use manual dexterity. Will continuously speak, hear, and use vision. Will work indoors continuously. Will occasionally sit, lift, carry, climb, kneel, crawl, reach, and grasp. Will occasionally work with excessive noise and be exposed to weather.

Licenses or Certifications Required

A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe. CPR / First Aid (current or within first 30 days of hire) and one year of childcare experience for children 6-weeks to 12 years of age.
