JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, trains, supervises and works with a crew of Tribal youth involved in various work assignments and activities for the Tribe.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Coordinates and provides requested services to division staff. 

 

2. Work with recruiter to post and advertise youth jobs.

     a. May participate in offsite recruiting.

 

3. Screen and process applications for employment.  

 

4. Maintain confidential files for all youths participating in the program.

 

5. Conduct orientation for new employees.

    a.  Educates crews in the work ethics and practices. 

    b.  Trains crew and adheres to safety procedures and guidelines for assigned tasks. 

    c.  Trains crew in maintaining, cleaning and utilizing equipment.

 

6. Create and maintain calendar of required tasks.

 

7. Supervises and participates in crew activities. 

 

8. Transports self and crew to and from work locations via assigned vehicle; operates and maintains assigned vehicle. 

 

9. Completes paperwork in a neat, accurate, and timely fashion. 

 

10. Request and process RQ’s and PO’s to pay vendors.

 

11. Cooperates with division. 

 

12. Maintains adequate supplies and materials inventory as needed.

 

13. Primary contact for scheduling youth workshops.

 

14. Works with staff and worksite supervisors to develop classroom and worksite management strategies and to assist in assigning duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority for program participants. 

 

15. Works with the worksite for the supervision of participants at their respective work sites and insures that participants are in appropriate work experience settings.

 

16. Supervises the instructional staff and insures that appropriate instructions and hours meet the contracted minimum requirements.

 

17. Contact parents/guardians as needed, regarding confidential matters.

 

18. Attends bi-weekly meetings with staff and other special meetings as necessary. 

 

19. Tracks and approves (up to 30 youths) time worked on ADP E-Time.

 

20. Conduct quarterly evaluations for all Youth participants in the Summer sessions and School sessions.  

 

21. Request building maintenance as needed.

 

22. Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

 

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Graduation from high school or equivalent and 1 year of experience working with tribal youth.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The working conditions described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral, vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet ad or humid conditions. The employee occasionally is occasionally exposed to arums or airborne particles.

Licenses or Certifications Required

A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
