    Under the general supervision of the Assistant Executive Director, the TGA Trainee will work in a variety of TGA departments to include, Inspection, Surveillance, Enforcement, Electronic Gaming, Licensing, Audit and Administration. While in each department this team member will learn about TGA and have hands-on experience with what the department does, what responsibilities the department has, and how they play a role within the Agency.  


    This is an entry-level TGA Trainee position where the Trainee will be employed so long as the trainee is pursuing and progressing in education and training requirements in conjunction with the Career Development Program. This position will lead to a career progression into a regular full-time TGA position at a time to be determined based on the assessment of the Assistant Executive Director. In this position, the TGA Trainee will receive mentorship and training to assist in the development of skills necessary to become a TGA team member.


    1. Observe, learn, and gain hands on experience in a variety of TGA departments.
    2. Gain an understanding of what each TGA department does and what their role is in regards to the regulation of gaming on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation.
    3. Learn how to operate and navigate through a variety of TGA specific electronic devices, systems, and software programs.
    4. Develop baseline knowledge of the Tribal/State Compact, regulatory guidelines, and minimum internal control standards within TGA, Casino, and Bingo.
    5. Will assist other departments with a variety of tasks and develop an understanding of how each TGA department interlinks with each other.
    6. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the wellbeing of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.


    • Must be an enrolled Muckleshoot Tribal member.
    • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.




    Knowledge of:

    • General office principles and practices
    • Software applications relative to the position assignment
    • Proper English grammar, usage and spelling
    • Word processing and spreadsheet applications
    • Basic accounting and mathematics



    Incumbents must be able to pass a background investigation; meet the criteria for a gaming license and pass a drug and alcohol test.



    At the completion of the Career Development Program, the TGA Trainee must be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

    • Have a general understanding of the Tribal/State Compact and minimum internal control standards
    • Have a basic understanding of the regulatory guidelines that TGA enforces
    • Strong interpersonal and human relation skills
    • Understands what each TGA department does and what they’re responsible for
    • Demonstrates effective customer service, in person, via telephone, and via 2-way radio
    • Have basic knowledge of iTrak and other TGA specific software
    • Firm grasp of MS Outlook and Word. And has a basic understanding of MS Excel
    • Can operate a variety of office equipment, such as fax machine and copier
    • Able to Follow oral and written instructions
    • Adapting to frequent interruptions and changes in workload demand
    • Maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive matters
    • Conducting research for specific work assignments
    • Maintains high levels of accuracy and attention to details
    • Understands, embodies, and complies with TGA ITRAK values
    • Accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work
    • Has an exceptional attendance record and understand the importance of showing up for work


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, climb stairs, talk and hear, and walk. Manual dexterity for computer work and routine paperwork. Portions of this job will be performed in a smoke filled environment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    Licenses or Certifications Required

    A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe
