  • JOB SUMMARY

    Provides individual tutoring and group instruction for related coursework. Work with students individually or in small groups to clarify course material and facilitate learning.

    MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Provides academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually.
    2. Establishes liaison with the instructor and work under the instructor(s) direction to assist the student.
    3. Attends period training sessions given by staff members to increase competency in working with students.
    4. Maintains records on each student who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessment.
    5. Schedules tutoring appointments.
    6. Provides evaluations and other reports as required by staff.
    7. Helps students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying; helps students develop a high level of motivation in academic areas.
    8. Assists students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated area.
    9. Helps students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.
    10. Assists in designing and implementing class cooperative projects.
    11. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

    EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

    High School Diploma or GED with an interest in the field of Technology and/or education.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class; While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and talk or hear; occasionally required to sit; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms; occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
