    Under supervision, serves as a liaison between the school and home by providing outreach assistance to school families and students.  Coordinates parent education workshops, parenting training as well as family activities/services for parents/guardians that will ensure students staying in school and successfully graduating on time by supporting student needs and services.


    1. Makes home visits to provide and obtain school related information; assists parent in the completion of various school forms.
    2. Coordinates with teachers make up work for students that are unable to attend school as a result of illness, vacation, suspension or other extended absences.  Parent Liaison will get work from teachers and delivers to students home or parents/guardians work as requested.
    3. Serves as a liaison with parents, students, community, staff and health providers to aid students in basic grooming and health education.
    4. Contacts parents orally and through written documentation regarding a variety of issues involving their student(s), including attendance and/or discipline concerns.
    5. Coordinate and host educational workshops, parent trainings and activities on a regular basis for parents/guardians.  Coordinate transportation, speakers, refreshments and maintain documentation. 
    6. Communicates with community organizations.
    7. Provides information on available community social service resources and maintains parent resource library.
    8. Assists in securing social service and health services for children in need.
    9. May serve as a representative to various advisory committees, including MTS CARE Team.

    10.  Verifies, maintains and updates a variety of records and files, including confidential student records and information.

    11.  Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.


    High School diploma or equivalent to graduation from high school and six (6) months of general office or customer service experience in a school setting is required.  Three (3) years experience working with families in the Tribal Community.

    Preferred:  Bachelor’s Degree in Education, social work or another field directly relation to K-12 or adult education


    • Knowledge of education programs and policies in the Muckleshoot community.
    • Knowledge of community resources and services in the Muckleshoot community.
    • Knowledge of basic office machines – computer, telephone, copier and able to use independently with a high level of proficiency  
    • Effective oral and written communication with students, parents or guardians, staff and administrators.
    • Encouraging parents to participate in school activities.
    • Establishing a positive relationship with students, teachers and parents.
    • Demonstrating empathy and warmth in assisting with social service needs of the community.
    • Maintaining confidentiality on sensitive matters.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritizing workload and adapting to changes in work demands
    • Knowledge of community and ability to make daily home visits

The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
